Worry as Thomas develops ear infection

Thomas has gone down with his first illness - an ear infection and is now on antibiotics. He's been quite miserable the last couple of nights and had great difficulty sleeping. Meaning of course, that so have his parents! It's been quite a stressful time, there probably is no cause for concern, but when you're new at being a mum and dad and your little one becomes ill, it knocks you back.

All going (fairly) smoothly so far

I'm pleased to report that Thomas continues to prove a very well-behaved little boy, although he is now waking at least a couple of times a night for feeding or nappy changing.
It's Kate who takes on the task of dealing with Thomas's nocturnal needs. Perhaps that's unfair but she is after all on maternity leave and it's me who must go to work each day.

Touch wood - Thomas is proving a well-behaved baby (usually)

Thomas is just over two weeks old now and so far, I think Kate and I have got off lightly. We've heard all the horror stories about babes who bawl all night without stopping. But I'm pleased to report that ours only seems to cry when he really needs to.

No pain, no gain - and an emotional rollercoaster of a week

Well the first week of little Thomas's life has come to an an end and as I look back I thought it was about time to offer my version of events! Rob has done a great job of keeping the blog up to date as I have been otherwise engaged but for all expectant mothers out there, there are just a few things to share and for those that have gone before, you will understand the pain!
