It's New Year's Eve and when Big Ben chimes tonight it will usher in another very exciting year. A year when I will become a father for the first time.
I'm still feeling like I am the only one this is happening to, even though the evidence is all around me that this really isn't the case.
I can't believe I spent my whole life up to that summer's day in mid July yawning inwardly at the very mention of babies and pregnancy and parenthood.

I can’t believe that I have only 10 weeks left before the baby is born! Week 30 feels like a real milestone and I have started to panic that we haven’t actually got many things for Baby Thomas.
I have bought some clothes and the entire Johnsons range! But I lack fundamental items such as a Moses basket so I have convinced Rob that a trip to Mothercare is needed ASAP so we have set aside the January 6 to baby shop.

I've just briefly escaped what I can only describe as mayhem at my parents' house here in Codsall, south Staffs.
My wife and I and the unborn Thomas have come for Christmas lunch and are going over to Kate's parents' place near Malpas in Cheshire for a festive supper later on.
Well Thomas, (aged minus two-and-a-bit months) is already the star of the show!

Well week 29 already and it’s nearly gone so I thought I had better put fingers to keyboard, which incidentally is becoming harder as there is now about a 10 yard gap between me and the keyboard! I have to admit to being really tired and emotional. Friday was my worst day. I came home from work shattered with stomach-ache which after the weekend made me all the more emotional.
Rob was wonderful, he not only gave up his work’s night out to look after me but ran me a bubble bath, put my towels to warm and left my Christmas card propped up behind the bathroom taps with a mouthful of champagne – my Mr Darcy.

I've just read back my somewhat smug entry from yesterday and perhaps on reflection I should not be too quick to talk up the 'joys' of fatherhood until I have erm, experienced it.
I was woken in the middle of the night by our cat Spatz who burst through the cat flap whining and I then had difficulty getting back to sleep again. Before long, there will be another little creature waking me up in the middle of the night. I wonder how I will cope? Kate said to me last night, 'in 12 weeks' time you'll be a father'. I felt like I did that day when I found out she was pregnant - again a sense of disbelief.

Hello to those of you who found this blog after seeing it promoted on page 3 of the Post this morning!
I got a little teasing at work that the blurb for our blog was sharing the page with the latest bizarre story about MP Lembit Opik and his Cheeky Girl.

As week 28 draws to a close I am grateful that the events of the last two days have concluded with no serious consequences. The nightmare started at 1.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning. Rob and I had given a dinner party for friends and I was shattered. Rob had already gone to bed because he was working at the Daily Post the following day.
I was also about to go to bed when I realised I was bleeding.

At the risk of confusing everyone, there now follows a quick whizz through some key thoughts of mine over the last few weeks of my pregnancy which I jotted down before this blog was off the ground.
(Once we're up to speed, we will update this blog on a day-to-day basis!).
Here goes:

Hi, this is a first entry from me, Kate the mother to be of the beast and the women’s version of events! Pregnancy. As the weeks have progressed I look back at that day in June this year when I weed on the pregnancy test and waited for two lines to appear for a positive result. They did and we were a bit shocked at how quickly we had conceived. At the time I had no idea that this was only the start of having to aim wee at small objects.

Hello and welcome to our new blog in which my wife Kate and I intend to chronicle the ups and downs of the final three months of her pregnancy. This will be our first child and, having married in April of this year, we are over the moon to be expecting one so soon.
